FPS Limits

330 sub guns
360 carbines
400 rifles
450 Semi Auto Rifles (SVD, AR-10), with restrictions and required to attend AND PASS the PLA Sniper Course viewtopic.php?f=45&t=302)
550 Bolt Action Rifles

Require real capacity and weighted magazines for anything over 400 fps.

Re: FPS Limits

Norseman of Spokane Airsoft suggested that we keep the fps at 400 fps, but with different weighted bb's.

I'm just throwing out ideas right now.

Re: FPS Limits

I will not attend any game that allows semi/full autos at over 400fps with .2g bb's, and I will actively encourage others to not-attend as well.
I'm ashamed to be a member of PLA because PLA members refused to assist in me in perpetuating a scam against the airsoft community.

I would much prefer that all guns were limited to 330 fps. The obsession with higher fps guns by people who have zero skill, and try to make up for their lack of skill by having guns that will reach out a tiny bit more is saddening, and you know what happens next? "well, my M14 should reach out more, so why not allow these guns 500fps . . . . " and the cycle starts all over again with whiny bitches who lack skill trying to make up for their failure by having guns that are designed only to hurt people.

I'm ashamed that dan's even entertaining this nonsense. Ashamed.

Re: FPS Limits

I like the idea of having specific weapons more capable than others.

So MP5's, UMP's, and other smaller guns will be at the 330fps limit. Full rifles will adhere to current standards. Bolt action will still work at current standards.

The only difference is a technological update, allowing semi-auto only weapons at a slightly higher fps. Right now, there is no point in getting an AR-10 with real-cap 20 round mags, or getting an SVD.

Also, I want to eventually get M240's that reach out and touch someone, so they can be used as a Weapon Squad in a light infantry company uses them, or mountable on a vehicle (HMMWV, not civilian H3) and have people afraid of the vehicle when it runs up.

Because besides that, what difference is there in airsoft weapons? Would you rather be shot by an M16 from some guy, or an M240 mounted on a vehicle? In real life, I'd take the M16.

Re: FPS Limits

If you put the upper limit at 330, then you have to have an even lower limit for those running sub guns and such. Right now there is really no point in running anything larger than a carbine with a TBB.

controlling which AEGs can have tight bores, and which cannot isn't something we can regulate, controlling FPS is.

The reason to raise the FPS limits for SOME guns isn't to make up for lack of skill, it is to actually make a difference in effective range between different types of weapons.

So why not change the FPS limit between an M4 and an M16? Or a shorty m4 and a m4?

M4's would be 360 and full M16's would be 400fps.

I think we could get more complicated than that with fps limits, but this is a general starting point for discussion I just threw up.

What about shorty m4s? with the 10 inch barrels?

Why make things complicated at all? Leave things as they are. It works. Quit whining because you lack skill, and just get used to the equipment instead of trying to make it "better". Make YOURSELF better. Learn to use the ground, instead of trying to get an extra 5 feet.
