They kind of go hand in hand if we are using the same projectile (mini nerf).
Re: Airsoft Mortar System?
had a group in Eugene that had a mortor system, used PVC, bike pump, valve switch, and dixie cups.
When fired it was a noticable "thump", the cup kept the BB's in a realtivly tight group. Would "shower" a 15" area at about 100-200 feet. The bike pump meant it took about 20-30 sec between shots.
I'll see if I can get the "plans" for the construction.

It is on my list of projects to make a viable mortar using the large nerf footballs ( 3.4" diameter) for that very use. I thought about doing a bb thing, but I just didn't see it being accurate or feasible, but what Attack37 is talking about sounds excellent. If you can get plans, I am all for building one.
My biggest holdup right now is safety, and valve speed (what pressures can I repeatedly go to on pvc without risking explosion, and finding a good valve to release the air CONSISTENTLY every time).
